WHO INVENTED CONVERSE?
Everything started when Maquis Mill Converse decided to open is own Converse Rubber Shoe Company in 1908, Massachusetts a state in the United States waiting for a great success. Marquis noticed that sport caught the attention and imagination of youth that wanted a different world. He saw how many dreams revolved around sport, mainly basketball. That why he decided to make the first type of sneakers for basketballers: The All-Star.
Marquis was born on the 23rd of October in 1861. He grew up in Lyme, New Hampshire United States. He married Alice Converse in Lebano Hampsphire on the 23rd of October in 1884 (age 23). His first born was a girl named Frieda Converse, born in 1888 May 28th. His second child was a boy, Harold Marquis Converse born on the 21st of March of 1890. His last kid was born in the 29th of January 1898, John Kenrick Converse. Marquis was always interested in fashion and in high school he made a dress that didn't even cost $10. His attention then turned to shoes and thats how the Converse Chuck Tayor All-Star began.
At the age of 46, in 1908 Marquis starts his Converse Rubber Shoe Company. Nine years later, 1917, he releases the All-Star Basketball Shoe. Marquis decided on the name 'All-Star' because he thought that each and everyone of us can be a Star in different ways. A year after the All-Star basketball shoe is released, Chuck Taylor starts wearing them as a high school student and in 1921 he joins the Converse Rubber Shoe Company. 1923, Taylors name is added onto the rubber shoe and five years later, Marquis (age 66) retires and leaves the Converse Company.
Marquis Mill Converse passed away in 1931.
In 2003, Nike buys Converse for $305 million. Converse's athletic shoe will be the first to be marketed by Nike without bearing the Nike name. Nike hasn't changed anything from the shoe which provided a bigger success for Converse.
